Westminster Presbyterian Church is seeking a warm, grounded, and faithful individual to serve as a Godly Play Storyteller for children ages 3 through 5th grade during the academic year.

About Godly Play
Godly Play is a Montessori-informed approach to Christian formation that invites children into the stories, rhythms, and practices of faith through wonder, storytelling, creativity, and reflection. Rather than simply teaching information, Godly Play encourages children to engage scripture deeply and imaginatively, helping them discover their place within God’s story.
Position Overview
The Storyteller helps create a calm, welcoming, and spiritually grounded environment where children can listen, wonder, and grow in faith together. This person will prepare and present Godly Play stories on Sunday mornings and support children with consistency, kindness, and clear boundaries.
Responsibilities
Prepare and present Godly Play stories and lessons
Create a safe, welcoming, and orderly classroom environment
Engage children ages 3 through 5th grade with warmth, patience, and respect
Memorize and faithfully present story scripts and lesson flow
Support children during wondering, response time, and transitions
Communicate and collaborate with church staff and volunteers
Arrive prepared and maintain reliability and consistency throughout the program year
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
Work well with children ages 3 through 5th grade
Be firmly grounded, setting a quiet tone and maintaining boundaries
Demonstrate a love of God
Have knowledge of Bible stories and Christian tradition
Be able to memorize and present scripts comfortably
Be physically able to sit on the floor and move easily within a classroom setting
Be responsible, dependable, and organized
Have experience with children, education, church ministry, and/or Godly Play
Be affirmative of children/families who are LGBTQIA
Be at least a high school graduate
Schedule & Commitment
Sunday mornings: 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Weekly preparation: Approximately 3 additional hours during the week
Program year: September through May
Total commitment: Approximately 5 hours/week; $22/hour
