Elementary Class: BLAST!!
Every Sunday morning, kids have a BLAST: hearing a Bible story, Learning About Jesus, making some Art, and Singing Together. We engage their imaginations and curiosity, help them find their place in the story, and to sing their faith. During church school, the children gather to explore and respond to God’s grace and be sent out to love and serve God. Our curriculum, Growing in Grace and Gratitude, is rooted in the foundation of Presbyterian identity where God’s grace and our gratitude are the heartbeat of our faith, life, and worship. They are invited to a life of discipleship, through learning and practicing hospitality, generosity, and love, and encouraged to reach beyond Sunday mornings and church walls to live their lives as an expression of God’s grace.
We believe that children are an important part of the church so children’s classes participate in worship, pouring water in the font for baptisms, serving communion, and collecting the offering. Children also participate in special ways during the year. They collect Lenten offerings in fish boxes, decorate for and host occasional fellowship hours, and participate in church-wide events such as the Advent Workshop, Christmas Eve pick up pageant, Worship in the Courtyard and Game Nights.
Throughout the year, special gatherings for children and their families are planned by the CFM committee. Events like Bagel Brunches on Sunday mornings in the playground during the summer, picnics at local parks, and Game Nights at the church enable the kids to play together while the big people get to know one another.
