Songs of Resistance: A Lenten Theme
During the season of Lent, our theme this year is Songs of Resistance. Over the next six weeks through liturgy, preaching, scripture, and music, we will explore and reflect on songs from scripture. We’ll look at Old and New Testament passages in which ancient peoples, despite suffering, brokenness, persecution, and imprisonment, lifted up songs and sang God’s praises. We’ll also take time to examine those songs that came out of America’s civil rights history. How do people who face trials and obstacles in life find their voices? What is the song that will get us through troubled times? What is your song?
