We completed a successful hosting with our homeless brothers of Charlottesville. The men were cordial and appreciative. The shelter provided a warm bed and a nutritious meal to (an average) 44 men a night. This number was up from the past few years and it was an older population. We needed to supply extra bedding for the nights we had additional guest. The number of volunteers who participated over our two weeks as host was 170plus. All of WPC’s youth groups were enthusiastically involved in meal preparation. Thank you to those of you who organized our youth groups’ participation. We thank and appreciate the contributions of our partner congregations…Meadows Presbyterian Church, Buck Mountain, Crozet Baptist Church and Charlottesville Vineyard. Westminster could not continue our shelter and mission to the homeless, in conjunction with PACEM, without our partners. A very special thanks to the staff at WPC…Sandy, Mickie, Steve, Tom, and Alanzo who extend themselves during our two week hosting time. Their participation with the shelter is invaluable.
For those of you who contributed meal cards or cash donations towards the purchase of meal card for the men, thank you. Unfortunately, I do not know who you are so I am not able to personally respond. Please know we were able to give our guest 3 meal cards per person…an increase from last year. The meal cards are very much appreciated by our guest.
Thank you to the Westminster Congregation.
