On Saturday, April 22nd, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., WPC is cooperating with UVA Facilities Management employees and Madison House student volunteers to have a litter pick-up along the railroad tracks adjacent to the church. Our contribution is to provide parking spaces for the litter-picker-uppers, a table for sign-in registration, access to bathrooms during the event, and a spot for the trash accumulated to be deposited before being picked up by the City.
Volunteers from the church can either participate in the litter pick-up or stay at the church to help with registration and welcome workers to the building. Dawson Garrod of the UVA Facilities Management is the coordinator in charge of the event planning and supervising during the pick-up hours. We are also involving the Public Works Dept. of the City and Buckingham Branch Railroad in this shared effort. The start time is 10:00 a.m. with gathering at the lower parking lot outside the church office. If you want to help in the litter pick-up, please bring gloves and dress appropriately – shoes, not sandals, and long pants, not shorts. Contact Sandy at the church office if you want to volunteer.
