Thank you from WPC PACEM Committee

March 15, 2018 by Mickie Elzinga

The WPC-PACEM Committee give thanks and appreciation for all in our congregation who participated in our shelter: nightly volunteers, meal cards and cash donations, our youth groups,  WPC’s fabulous staff, (Mickie, Sandy, Tom, Alonzo and Steve), Lynne and her husband and Ken.  The 2018 shelter was truly an “all church” endeavor!  Take pride that you contributed in providing a nutritious meal, comfort from the cold and a compassionate presence for our guest.  Personally, I would like to thank   the PACEM committee for their extra participation due to my surgery especially Gail Wiley and Peter Gates.

Thank You for Hosting PACEM

March 15, 2018 by Mickie Elzinga

To our friends at Westminster Presbyterian Church:

Thank you for once again hosting PACEM’s men’s shelter in our 14th winter of helping people who are homeless in our area. We want you to know how truly blessed this community is to have congregations like yours to help in our mission to provide shelter for our neighbors in need.  We greatly appreciate your willingness to prepare and serve dinner, to work with partner congregations, and for all the Basket Ball games, TV, ping pong, gift cards, desserts, and hospitality you provided for the guests in a warm, welcoming, and compassionate environment each night.

In addition to shelter, WPC also provides generous financial support to PACEM. Your financial help supports the cost of PACEM’s shelter staff in your church. The graciousness of the entire PACEM Family makes it possible for us to remain open throughout the winter.

Thank you for hosting PACEM’s men’s shelter again this winter, for the hands of all your volunteers, the graciousness of opening your doors, and your willingness to work with other congregations in our community to address the immediate needs of our neighbors.

PACEM Update

March 1, 2018 by Mickie Elzinga

The first week of PACEM at Westminster is progressing with delicious meals being supplied by several of our youth groups (YAC, U-Kirk, Rite-13) and partner congregations (Meadows Presbyterian, Buck Mountain Episcopal, Charlottesville Vineyard Church).  We are grateful to our Evening Hosts and Overnight volunteers for their time and energy.  It takes many hands to provide for this ministry.

The PACEM Committee is still in need of two OVER NIGHT VOLUNTEERS for Wednesday March 7 and Thursday March 8.  Please consider this opportunity for serving the men in our area experiencing homelessness.Sign up is available on line or call the church office.
