Worship is the foundation of our community. We come together to seek and respond to God’s presence and to relate God’s Word to our lives and the world in experiences of celebration, reflection, reverence, and prayer. In worship we offer ourselves to God and are strengthened for the coming week of service and prayer.
From the fall until the late spring, the regular Sunday morning services are at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. During summer months, worship changes to one service at 10:00 a.m., and Sunday after Christmas we have one service at 11:00 a.m.
At Westminster, the people in the congregation are encouraged to take an active part in worship. Bibles are available throughout the Sanctuary, in racks in each pew for those who wish to read along with the lessons. We invite prayers and announcements from the congregation during parts of the worship service. We carry over prayer concerns from the 8:30 service to the 11:00 service and try to be aware of as many concerns as possible in advance so that those at both services may be informed of events and needs in the entire congregation’s life. We strongly encourage those with announcements to submit them in writing to the church office so that they may be read by those attending both services.
For over 30 years, Westminster has consciously attempted to make the language of worship inclusive. We recognize that God transcends the limitations of our language and that we cannot expect to describe all human beings with the word “men.” As a result, the words of hymns are occasionally changed and printed in the bulletin or Hymnal Supplement to provide more inclusive imagery.
Families are encouraged to worship together when possible. Nursery care is provided by church volunteers and paid staff for children from infancy to first grade. A Comfort Room, equipped with speakers, is available downstairs under the Sanctuary. It is intended for use by adults with children in arms, for whom it becomes necessary to leave the service. The Comfort Room is not intended as a substitute for the available regular nursery care. We strive to include children who are in the first grade or older in our corporate worship of God. This may be done through some special portion of the services specifically for children, which builds on the theme of the service as a whole. In addition, special bulletins and children’s Bibles are available for children attending worship.
The Lord’s Supper is celebrated on the first Sunday of every month and is open to all baptized Christians. The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated periodically. Our pastors are available for guidance to those seeking baptism for themselves or their children. Special services are planned during religious seasons and times of need. Guidelines for baptisms, weddings, and memorial services at Westminster are available in the office and on the church’s website.
Every worship service involves a number of people in a variety of undertakings. If you would like to participate in any of the following activities, please contact the Worship and Music Chairperson:

Westminster has installed a new digital audio system in the sanctuary. One of the benefits of the new system is that it automatically produces digital audio files of every service. There are downloadable podcasts/MP3 recordings of Sunday sermons available! Look on the left side of the main page for 'Sermon Podcasts.'
Sermons will soon be available as a podcast through the iTunes Store
