University Mission Long-Range Plan Goals and Objectives

GOAL:

To welcome and nurture the discipleship of university students and young adults; to incorporate them into the life of Westminster Church; and to strengthen their witness to Christ through service in Charlottesville and beyond

OBJECTIVES: 

1. Welcome and nurture students and young adults.
   • Paint Beta bridge to welcome back University students.
   • Provide space in the Prism building for use by students. 
   • Identify and recruit a member of the University Missions Committee to work with the newly formed Lecture Series Committee.
2. Incorporate students into the life of Westminster. 
   • Offer at least one program per academic year that allows university and high school students to interact.
   • Recruit a university student or youth to be an elder.
   • Host at least one event this academic year that connects university students with the older members of Westminster.
3. Provide opportunities for service in Charlottesville and beyond.
   • Offer at least one new service/outreach opportunity per academic year for university students in coordination with other members of the congregation and groups, especially the Mission and Outreach committee. 
   • Offer one mission trip every other year for students and members of the congregation.
