Lectio Divina Prayer Groups

For well over a thousand years Christians, including Presbyterians, have followed the ancient practice of praying the Scriptures.  The process of doing so has historically been called Lectio Divina – “sacred reading.” Lectio involves hearing some verses of Scripture read, sitting in silence, and then sharing the insights that have leapt up from our hearts. Sometimes instead of a Bible reading we use a hymn we have or will sing in worship or one of the affirmations of faith used in worship.

There are currently two Lectio Prayer groups.  They meet on the first and third Wednesdays of the month.  One group meets in the mornings from 10:30 to 11:45 in the Lower Lounge (former Westminster Student Center on the ground floor of the church office building). The Second group meets in the evenings from 7:30 to 9:00, also in the Lower Lounge.  All are welcome to come join either of the groups. For more information speak with either Stephen Pfleiderer or Judy Rassi. If you would like learn about and experience Lectio Divina, come to the class on Lectio Divina in the Library on the first Sunday of Advent (November 30).
